This is my grandma. She was beautiful!
What's one family recipe that you wish you knew how to cook?
Before my grandma died I talked to her. I pretty much interviewed her and asked her about her life and I got 2 recipes that I always wanted from her. I got her recipe for carne guisada and her recipe for capirotada. I have only made the carne guisada and it is so good. I make it very very close to what she did, hers tasted better, of course.
She use to make us these chicken legs in a gravy sauce that was a tomato sauce base. I wish I wish I had gotten that recipe also. My mom doesn't really remember Grandma making this but I do, boy do I remember.
Let's make a list. What are 20 things in your life that you're grateful for?

What are your personal memories of September 11th?
I was in San Antonio, Tx. I had just spent the evening before in the company of Vicky, Sylvia and Dave. We were at the Slayer midnight record release party. My friend Dave owned a record store and he had the party. I remember think how cool it was that I was here in SA with my friends. I was leaving in a couple of days so we still had some hours of debauchery left... I was completely hung over when my friend Deena called me to tell me to turn on the TV. I did and all the joy and happiness of the evening before fizzled.
I remember being really scared and almost frantic because I wanted to go home. When i talked to my mom I told her, "I wanna go home" and she said, "You are home." And at that moment it was when I realized that my home was with my now-husband, then-boyfriend Dave. Defining moment much?
As I said in my post before, 9/11 was also the last time I ever saw my Grandma alive.
I remember where I was. I remember what I thought, I remember all the things that happened that day...
I was not in NYC. I was in SATX. At the time I lived in NorCal.
It was also the last time I saw my beloved Grandma alive. I went to her house to let her know that I would be leaving the next day via car or bus or something! Now I wish I had stayed until everything was cool again. I would have been able to spend more time with her. I miss her. I would like to turn back time 5 years please. Thank you...
