We had lunch with C and B yesterday. It was so nice to see them after not seeing them in a while.
Thank you for being so awesome. You two are the best...
Well another Mother's Day has come and gone. Wanna know what I got for Mother's Day from the husb? He got me a new front deck. YAY! I'm quite satisfied with it and I will post pictures when I get a chance.
Thank you C for the beautiful Mother's Day card. I look forward to your postcards every year. You are a beautiful soul. I'm glad you are my friend...
It's been a long week. Since the excitement of the kids getting and sleeping in their own beds has subsided, there have been other exciting things I've been doing...
On Monday I enlisted my MIL to come over and take of the kids while I went to go see Angela Davis speak at CSU Hayward (East Bay). SHE WAS AWESOME! She is an amazing woman and I even got her to sign my books and take a picture with me! YAY!!
My husb was off on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday we took the kids and the kid sister to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was INCREDIBLE! I couldn't believe how awesome it was. The kids LOVED it! They loved looking at all the fish and seeing all the otters and what not. It was great. Then we went to a beach in Pacific Grove and walked on the rocks for a bit. It was incredibly beautiful! OH we also saw 2 whales breeching and spouting! It was so fun. Got home and the kids were fast asleep!
Wednesday we went to the Oakland Zoo. It was a perfect day to go to the zoo. I guess the rain earlier in the day scared people away. It was almost empty! We saw all of the animals and the kids LOVED it. The lion was actually out and putting on a show for us! It was so fun.
Yesterday my beautiful friend xelyn came over and we made chicken tikka masala and ate naan and hummus and laughed like we were in high school again! We shared our guilty pleasures of who we LOVED back in the day... Billy Squire, Paul Young, New Edition, Menudo, etc. We are not going to say who loved who though, we don't roll like that!
Today I went to the mall to buy the kids shoes. Ahhh, the exciting life of a stay at home mom.... :)
Well the first month of the new year is almost over. I can't believe it. It went by so fast!
I think my kid sister is going to be coming to visit us in March. Which will be nice. She wants to stay for a couple of months and that would be awesome. Then I will be going to Texas like in ummm, May or so. That will be fun. I can't wait to go back and see all my friends and family. I need Texas like a desert needs rain...
Nothing has been going on really. Just kinda hanging out here with the kiddos. Passing the time with playdates and friends. Last Friday we went to Walnut Creek to have lunch with Sweet Pickles and B. at Il Fornaio. It was a good time. The kids got a little edgy towards the end but all in all they behaved pretty well. I think I may have scared the pregnant lady that was sitting behind us though. She will never want to have another child again! I jest... I am definitely going to buy the Zen tea... Thanks C!
Pretty much that's all. Saw my good friend xelyn last Thursday. She gave me some tea for my birthday! She's so awesome!
Can't think of anything else. I'm in the process of trying to make a scrapbook but not really for the husb for dia de amor y amistad. I have NO idea on how scrapbooks work. I even went to Borders and bought a book about them. And yes, I'm a dork...
I have had no real time to blog. I have been writing for NaNoWriMo and just taking care of the kiddos, oh and preparing for the dia de los muertos dinner at my church, things are a wee bit settled now though. Last week the kids were majorly thrown off schedule due to the time change. It was just kinda weird. Monday I was supposed to have a play group but it didn't happen.
Tuesday we had a picnic with sweet_pickles and B. We went to Hap Magee and the kids had a great time. It was also Halloween. We ended up taking the kids trick-or-treating but only to like 4 houses and then we came back to our house. We didn't have very many trick-or-treaters at all. I kinda hoped that the only group of like six kiddos would have taken all of the candy. They didn't. DAMN! There was only one buy back in the newspaper too and I missed it.
Wednesday, I went to a mothers together group. It was at this church. Seriously, I walked in and I was immediately approached by 3 women all welcoming and atwitter with excitement that I was there for the first time. I only went because my friend Elise said she wanted me to go, she thought I would like it. I got to a Presbyterian Church in Hayward. The church I go to is considered "more light" which means more accepting of a lot of things that the aforementioned church is not. We prayed 4 times within the first half hour. And they really really have faith. I have never been in a room with people who spoke so freely, suggesting that God was just naturally with them at all times. They seemed so firm in their beliefs, it kinda scared me. At my church we don't talk like they do. So anyway the conclusion is that God will tell and show me everything my kids need and I will, just by nature of being their mother and God's humble servant, give it to them. Uh-huh. I'm not going to knock people who have this intense faith. Maybe it's a good thing, for me it was just totally different. At the end of the session they asked if we wanted to offer up any people's names who we wanted to pray for, one woman mentioned herself as she was having problems with her thyroid. I mentioned my neighbor who was going into the hospital to have surgery to have cancer removed from his body. The third woman asked for prayer because they were selling their house and wanted it to sell within a month. WHAT?!?!?! And who do you think got the biggest Amen. Uh, yeh. Then the small group facilitator talked to the woman with the house about how it was obvious she had God with her. I kept thinking, is God not with me, is it not obvious? Anyway, after that I had lunch with my friends John and Ralph and talked some CHN business. And John is the pastor of my church and I told him we should start a mothers group of our own. He agreed. We'll see how that goes. Then I went to the groceries. Came home and wrote a little bit.
Thursday was Dia De Los Muertos. We hung out at home and then about 530pm we went to my church. We had a decent turnout. We all shared stories and pictures and food. It was a great time.
Friday was a major chill day.
Yesterday I went to Walnut Creek to go to the Hallmark store. It was so crowded. I just went and bought my holiday cards and got the frick out of there. It was horrible! There were so many people there and the parking is just getting worse and worse. Afterward we went to Target and then to see the MIL. We took the kids to Mohr park in P-Town and then we went and got burritos at El Balazo.
It's been quite a week and I'm hoping that the babies will finally get use to the time change. This waking up at 6am is keeling me!
So yesterday we went to meet my girl JC and her grrrrrrls at the Dell'Osso Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze!
We had a great time! The kids had a great time and everyone was exhausted afterward. We played in the corn maze. Thanks to Little J and The Husb for finding our way through the maze. We only got 2 stamps though. It was kinda warm yesterday. Then we took a ride on the tractor tram and took a hay ride too. I have never taken a hayride. There was actual hay on the trailer that was being pulled by a tractor! It was fun!
Lemme see, we also let the kids in the petting zoo. Oh my GAH! They loved it! The goats were taller than they were. There were a couple of goats that were little and Jacob went around claiming them. "MY GOAT! MY GOAT!" So cute! They also got to feed the animals. They also got their hands scrubbed like never before!
There was a little playground there so they played with that and then we looked for pumpkins but got distracted by the hay pyramid and the hay bale maze, as well as the hay bale tunnel. YAY!
It was a great day! I'm glad I have a friend like JC and her daughters to share stuff like that with!
